iPhone 12: Release Date, Price, Rumors and everything you need to know
The new iPhone 2020 release is round the corner, typically Apple launch new iPhone models in September every year however multiple reports have pointed to be delayed but how late, the question remains. During an Apple earning call, Luca Maestri, CFO noted that the supply of the new product will be a few weeks later than the usual September release.
When will the iPhone 12 come out ?
The new 2020 iPhones will be announced in autumn 2020 but it may not be on traditional September slot. There are numerous reports of delays, we now expect new iPhone 12 to come out in October 2020.
The delays in releasing new iPhones as pointed out by Apple CFO could be dealt with splitting the iPhone 12 launch in 2. Rumors mills about launch of two 6.1 inch iPhone 12 initially, iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro, followed by 5.4 inch iPhone 12 and 6.7 inch iPhone 12 Pro max a few weeks later.
iPhone 12 Design and Specification
If the reports are correct then Apple is expecting to launch 4 of iPhone 12 models in different screen sizes including a 5.4-inch iPhone 12, a 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max, a 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. It is also believed that Apple is planning to launch a 4G-only version of iPhone 12. The cheaper iPhone 12 will look the same as high end models except 5G support. All iPhone 12 models are expected to feature OLED display.
4 new iPhones or 5 ?
iPhone 12 - This 5.4 inch entry level iPhone 12 feature a 5.4 inch OLED panel with expected resolution to be 2340x1080 and feature an A14 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB to 256GB storage to choose from. This model will have Dual rear cameras and 2227 mAh battery.
iPhone 12 Max - This 6.1 inch is a taller version of iPhone 12. It has similar hardware like A14 processor, dual cameras, 4GB RAM and 3 storage options to choose from 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The major difference between standard iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max is larger display size of 2532x1170 resolution and a larger 2,775 mAh battery.
iPhone 12 Pro – The 6.1 inch iPhone will feature a 2532x1170 resolution and expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate. Expect 6GB of RAM with multiple storage option from 128GB to 256GB. This device will also be powered by A14 processor and rumoured to have triple rear lens with a 64MP main sensor, plus a LiDAR time-of-flight sensor that will improve performance of iPhone AR apps.
iPhone 12 Pro Max – Powered by A14 processor and almost same configuration as iPhone 12 Pro except for resolution which is expected at Resolution could be 2778x1824. This iPhone will have more powerful 3,687 mAh battery and a possible 120Hz refresh rate support.
The rumors currently suggest that iPhone 12 series will support wireless charging while sticking with the lightening port.
Another round of rumor suggest that Apple is expected to launch 4G only iPhone 12. Is Apple targeting wider consumer base with this cheaper iPhone model? If that happen, the device could be priced at $549 and give tough competition to flagship android phones and cheer the fan base which are currently tight on cash due to COVID19.
iPhone 12 Price?
The iPhone 12 entry level device is expected to be priced at $699 while 6.1 inch iPhone 12 Max may cost $799. iPhone 12 series high end devices iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro max are rumored to be priced at $1049 and $1149 respectively.
