Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G: Everything you need to know
Samsung recently released new version of its first folding phone - Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The new Galaxy Z Flip is slightly upgraded 5G version device over its predecessor Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G is nearly identical to the original Flip except its now using a Snapdragon 865+ SoC with 5G support instead of Snapdragon 855 and array of new color sure to capture attention of buyers more than the original galaxy fold. It's the first Samsung device to this improved Snapdragon chip offering better performance than original Galaxy Flip and Galaxy S20 series.
The new model launched in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Gray designed to reduce the fingerprints on phone. The device is built with Plastic front, glass back (Gorilla Glass 6), and aluminum frame. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5G has compact design and ultra -thin folding glass display that closes to half its size in a flip.
The display of the smartphone is Foldable Dynamic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen which is sized 6.7 inches when unfolded. The screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2636 pixels and 425 ppi pixel density. It has an aspect ratio of 21.5:9 and screen-to-body ratio of 82.56 %.
This 183 gram device measure 167.9 x 73.6 x 7.2 mm when unfolded and just about palm size 87.4 x 73.6 x 17.3 mm when folded making it easy to hold and take from palm to pocket.
It has 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage while there is no additional memory card slot available for additional space. The device is equipped with 3300 mAh Li-Po battery that support 15W fast battery charging and fast wireless charging
On camera front, its packed with 12 megapixel Wide Angle and 12 megapixel Ultrawide primary camera with features like Auto flash, face detection, touch to focus and 10 megapixel front selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a pixel size of 1.22-micron. Thats a little disappointment as camera specification doesnt match this phone's price.
Connectivity options on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G include Wi-Fi 802.11, GPS, Bluetooth v5.00, and USB Type-C. Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G supports face unlock.
Most importantly the Galaxy Z Flip 5G does not include Clear Cover for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5G, USB Connector, Headphone, and USB connector leaflet in box. Being a sophisticated foldable phone, scratch prone body, its highly recommended to purchase protective case cover for Galaxy Z Fold 5G.
If you are looking to flaunt your new device, Galaxy Z Fold 5G Clear case will do the trick however if looking to protect your device from shocks and drops, Leather Case or Armor Cases are available.
Overall a decent phone with great connectivity and compact size but at $1450 it will very interesting to see how users will react specially at a time when unemployment is highest due to COVID19 and personal budget on tech things are little too tight.
